The Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) was first
launched in March 2010 and has been a booming success exactly from the start.
Stimulated by the first two The Karachi Literature Festival 2010 and 2011,
The drive started in Pakistan with the KLF led not only to Karachi but also Islamabad
and Lahore Literature Festivals (LLF, ILF), both launched in 2013, This
momentum reflects the depth of Pakistan’s cultural roots and historical
literary, and the great energy and desire in Pakistan. This type of festival is
held to seek understanding, knowledge, and creative growth.
The ILF and KLF are founded by Asif Farrukhi and
Ameena Saiyid produced by Oxford University Press and directed by Ameena
Saiyid. The ILF and KLF are open to all and free. The first of its kind in
Pakistan, the KLF and ILF bring together authors and celebrate the authors
writing in various genres and traditions and languages. They attribute mushairah,
debates, lectures, discussions, book launches, a book fair, satire, readings, theatre,
signings, music, comedy and children's sessions such as singing, storytelling, painting,
puppetry and creative movement.
The Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) attendance
rose from roughly 5,000 in 2010 till 90,000 in 2015. We have amazingly
increasing number of session and speakers performances throughout all the five The
Karachi Literature Festival (KLF). Now in 2015, The
Karachi Literature Festival continual for three days with 80 sessions and
several books has been launched of authors like Arif Hasan, Nayantara Saghal
and Musadiq Sanwal among others. Important and interesting topics were
discussed ranging from psychology and art to television and politics with an
honored panel of famous personalities which comprise many new faces from
Pakistan, India and other countries as well.
