The tale of Power Puff Women

The modern day society is obsessed to be tagged with brands, big, small or even medium. They want to have everything branded for making their self more worthy and esteemed. People have forgotten the difference of attachment vs loyalty with a particular brand.
We see many emerging new brands in Pakistan, especially in the fashion industry. Day to day they are rising more with a bigger fan following, but something horrible is happening around which they are unable to see.
Rather than creating an emotional attachment to their particular brand, they are making people, esp. women addicted to their products. What's wrong with that? Indeed, one cannot find anything wrong about it but the recent incidents happening in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi proved a vicious mentality of buying Sale items by hook or by crook.
The outlets turn into battlefield and women became a warrior. Those who use to flaunt the class and their education, bent to the lowest levels and not only showed the stronger side of them by snatching clothes and having cat fights but made the sale mania craze stronger than ever.
The branded clothes went on sale every year, twice or thrice in 12 months, but few brands are very reluctant to sell their clothes in meager sales. That is why when they announced the 2 days special sales, whole female population gathered at the outlets and showed the desperateness for mere clothes.
I am myself a huge fan of sale but the thing which astounded me, women have become emotionally vulnerable to buy those branded clothes for less price that they can even fight, bite, yell, snatch and misbehave in public while forgetting the Lady side of them.
On Black Friday Sales, we saw a catfight in Sapphire, a newly opened retail outlet of women clothes, which got world attention and was viral not only in Pakistan but in Britain, America and other parts of the world as well. The mirror published the news under Weird news section, which might be not a good thing.
Sapphire is not the trend setter and I am lucky enough to witness such great rush of women in Khaadi Store last year followed by this year as well. When the stocks end, women become furious and even pleaded other women to give them the dress for a bit more price because they have came so far and do not want to go empty handed.
Recently a similar video went viral of a Karachi-based designer outlet Agha Noor who announced flat 50% off in respect of celebrating their anniversary, which was more repulsive than the former ones. The huge mob of women broke the outlet door, many fallen on the floor, many lost their phones, purses and even dupattas, which can be seen clearly in the video.
I just ask myself one question whenever to see women degrading themselves like this. Do they even have any idea the brand owners make very few clothes for themselves and believe that buying too many clothes is wastage of money? Do these women have any idea that they are representing a frustrated and desperate picture of Pakistani women dying to buy a Kurta in sale which might not even be of their size, because they can't even ask the staff for their size, and if they somehow manage to ask there won't be any left, might be they have picked up the wrong piece in haste.
Here are two suggestions, either these brands should stop announcing such sales or have massive sales, several times in a year to fulfill the apetite for more designer clothes. I feel these women who can do anything to buy that Branded Kurta, might not understand that they are portraying a very bad image of themselves and have stooped so low that we cannot even teach them. This must be stopped here otherwise it will turn into a cultre which would be very degrading for all of us. This not only happens in Pakistan but in worldwide but seeing the misery of Pakistani women the brand owners must do something for their loyal customers rather than insulting and humiliating them like this.

H&O services are determined to change the fate of blue collar employees

Technology has changed our lives and the way we use to live. One example of such brilliant new way of offering services to make life better is H&O services. They are working hard to close the gap between demand makers and the services suppliers.
Most of us need help in our routine life for home or offices etc. H&O services are new in town and bringing the helpers closer to those who need them most. H&O Services is a blue collar worker’s placement business entity which is devoted to resolving the issue of unemployment, non-reliability and security existing in the Pakistani blue collar market regarding workers in the different areas.

What H&O Services do?

H&O services is a social enterprise cum business entity which is designated to address daily life common problems most people face at their homes. They are dedicated to training, managing and verifying semi-skilled labor in Pakistan for giving them better standards both in living and at working. In essence, they connect households with reliable and trustworthy drivers, helpers and cooks.

This social business has witnessed PKR 2.5 million in investment and has created lots of jobs for blue collar market.

The Minds behind H&O:

25 years old Mudassar Sharif after graduating from LUMS thought to do something worthy for his people. The team consists Mudassar Sharif, founder and CEO, Muhammad Ashfaq, field manager, Maham Ejaz, marketing manager and Nawaz, business development manager. The board of directors consists entrepreneurs, educationists, and scientists. Which depicts the team is strong and has the dedication to do some good for the people. He told that his mentor was having a startup named Kamata Pakistan, and when we bring this idea to him, he guided the team at his fullest to make this dream become a reality.

Team H&O not only provides hassle free hiring but also give basic health allowance, training to enhance efficiency, health insurance and help in child’s education to their registered workers.

The Mission:

Mudassar’s vision is to improve our society with technology and innovation. In a conversation with PakistanProbe, Mudassar told that this project was officially launched a year ago, but they got an overwhelming response.

The Social Innovation Lab incubate says H&O services is not just a website but a whole company with staff and field workers. Blue collar workers are very much in demand and people are searching them on the internet, it was his idea to pop up in this situation and make the demand maker meet suppliers through their mediation.

He added that supply side is pretty challenging. Workers are not eligible to use technologies but the demand makers can and that’s where we connect these both.

The Recruitment Process:

Mr. Sharif told that we recruit domestic helpers by field search and have contacts with some NGOs too, which help us in placing unemployed people on jobs.

They have registered 600 workers from different areas of Pakistan but are providing services in Lahore only. Out of 250 interviewed people matching with the demand of the customers, they have placed almost 75 people on jobs.

He also told us that in a year more than 500 people contacted them while the number is increasing day by day.

Being a social enterprise, H&O services keep in mind the other social factors as well. The company has collaborated with an NGO Dastak, and lawyers too, for handling any unwanted situation.

Mudassar says, “We do not promote child labor at all and if workers have children then we convince them to send kids for education. H&O find government schools in their locality and provide the basic and necessary things which school is not providing.”

The company has also made a strategy to counter domestic violence or women abuse though no such case was seen till now. They have charted a whole plan for making workers safe.

“We understand our responsibility, and stay in touch with workers. We highlight the violence and try our best to keep worker and employer happy. The company is also trying to register with Punjab Labor Department so that workers can get more benefits out of it.” Mr. Sharif added.

He further said, “We are too much occupied in Lahore, and giving services in posh areas only. People usually find us expensive and we prefer giving more salary to the workers. People support us in this cause and willing to pay those workers more. Our business model is different that is why people prefer us.”

Swiss region to ban full face veil, demands up to £6.5k fine

One of the Swiss states has decided to ban Burqa after the Paris attacks.

AS per details, a Swiss state has voted to fine those who wear a burqa in public. The fine would be 10,000 francs (£6.5k) which were decided in a referendum.

Ticino, an Italian-speaking canton, around two in three people voted in favor of the ban on the burqa. Many Muslim women and tourists wear it in public, in 2013.

Now the law is soon to come into force and those who break it will face a fine ranging from 100 francs to 10,000.

Not only citizens but the tourists also have to obey this law. Last year approximately 40,000 tourists came from the Middle East there. Visitors in Ticino will be informed at the border that it is unlawful in the canton to hide your face.

Security measures were put in place during the parliamentary session on the ban and a metal detective device was temporarily installed to screen those entering the building.

The Ticino law was inspired by a similar French ban, which was upheld by the European Court of Human Rights in 2014.

The law was highly criticized in other countries, esp. Muslim countries. Many demand freedom of living in Europe. The Muslim women are considered to face the barbarianism and remain always under criticism, as per western thought. While in many Muslim countries women wear it by choice, esp. when they are living abroad.

Any such law is derogatory for those who have to living in pluralistic society.

Changing life of Transgender people in Pakistan

The progress of a country dwells in the development of mindsets. Killing the orthodox and stereotypical thoughts and bearing the fact that everyone living around us have same and equal value for life what we enjoy.

Acceptance of transgender people always remained a disputatious topic. Pakistan is one of those third world countries where transgender people are usually limited to selected occupations

They don’t only face discriminatory attitude, because of limited choice they are also compelled to live in poverty.

Transgender people are misbehaved and face discrimination when it’s about earning their bread and butter. Both public and private sector organizations usually avoid offering them any meaningful jobs.

In an effort to change this rigid mindset, Rawalpindi campus of the National College of Arts (NCA) has taken an initiative to hire several transgender people.

NCA Director Dr. Nadeem Omar Tarar told Express Tribune that the motivation behind this initiative was to create opportunities for transgender people in a safe work environment.

Transgender people want respectable jobs and that is difficult for them as per society's stereotype mindset is quite inflexible.

Dr. Tarar also said that “[Students and teachers] were shocked at first, and there were certain inhibitions on how they would adjust and address [transgender staffers].”

“But the gender confusion gradually passed, and Bubbly, who works at the canteen, is now very popular among students. Some call her aunty or baji (older sister), and the whole campus has accepted them for who they are,” he said.

“Instead of assisting them in starting up small businesses, there is a need to provide them with jobs in secure environments, where they are able to safely settle in.” he added.

Though Sindh Govt. announced jobs for transgender people and recruited them but this was a step at a very small level and so many people remained jobless.

The students, if they see transgender people working around them, will definitely accept these people and this is a new beginning in life of so many socially unaccepted who are a citizen of the country we all live in.

Acid burned women hit the ramp to showed stronger side of them

Defaced women showed the real face of beauty in a ramp walk at Agra.
Indian acid attack survivors walked the ramp to tell the world that real beauty lies in one’s spirit and soul, not skin.

The unique fashion show was organized by a leading international fashion brand to celebrate the spirit of “Sheroes” by launching its festival collection in Agra.

At the show, Sheroes – as opposed to Heroes – displayed latest fashion collection inspired by ethnic arts, crafts, and traditional values imbued with a tinge of modernity.

Kanika Pahwa, senior marketing manager of the brand said that the event was a tribute to the real beauty and spirit of women associated with Sheroes Hangout cafe in the city.

The Sheroes Hangout has women who have fought back for life and survival through terrible chemical burns and now wish to define themselves as warriors.

Dolly, Rupa, Ritu, Nitu and Geeta, the five ‘Sheroes’ models who walked the ramp, said they lead a life on their own terms, “representing the spirit of dignity with purpose”.

“The fashion show shows we are not defeated or cowed down but willing to put up a brave fight,” one of them was quoted as saying.

India and Pakistan yearly face a huge number of acid attacks, but due to no rule of law, victims could not get justice.

Why can’t we introduce more places like Depilex to support our acid attack victims? There are a lot of restaurants opening nowadays, why any entrepreneur did not thought of employing these women, who have faced a lot in their lives because of someone else’s brutality.

Such Sheroes can be found in our motherland as well, we just need to give them a platform to, for a new beginning.

"Mol" is conventional story of unconventional Love

Our drama industry is doing very well and we cannot deny that Pakistani dramas has been hit all over these years here and abroad.

Hum TV gives quality entertainment to viewers but now I see a bit lacking potential of doing this, but still they are producing original and good content for people who love Hum TV and their dramas

Drama serial “Mol” was an unconventional love trio, and I must say it was really very different from all other love stories which we usually watch in all prime time drama serials. It was more of a social and romance oriented drama.

Shahryar was an Assistant Commissioner, the only child of their rich parents, an eligible bachelor, who is very much popular and in demand all around. He is truly a gentleman, apparently. Sajjal, his baby cousin, soon to be his bride, has dreamt to be Shahryar’s wife since her childhood and all family members badly want these two to get married.

In the meanwhile, Shahryar got posted to Sukkur, where he meant that small town girl Eman, who is headstrong, ambitious and very much independent. That is what made Shahryar fall for her, and after so much rebel he got married to her.

This is not a fairy tale indeed, after few days of marriage Shahryar told Eman he was not actually in love with her, but he liked her personality. He was not a believer of delusional love thing and he can’t believe anyone can live in such a fantasy world. That was an Ouch moment for Eman, all her romantic dreams died, and as time started flying, she found Shahryar more headstrong than her. Who does not wants to be thought in her influence and so he started showing his Manly side to her by negating her views.

Unfortunately, Eman found she cannot be a mother, and again she was the one to be blamed for extinction of Shahryar and his family name like dinosaurs extinct and nobody will be able to remember them who that family was. It was satire.

Rohail, the next door neighbor of Eman, had a baby boy, whose mother left the husband and baby for catching her dreams and Eman found a door to escape in face of Shahram. No doubt Eman got taunts of being a loose character woman, because she visits his neighbor’s home quite often and taking care of that baby.

Actually Shahryar was not fond of kids. What he wanted was dominance and he got it by marrying Eman, who was inferior to him in social status, and belonged to a small town.

Shahryar’s family started pressurizing Eman to agree him on second marriage and there you go, Sajjal and Shahryar got married.

This what happens in our society? If a woman is incapable of giving birth to a child, she is often divorced or her husband marries another woman for that sake of children. Why they cannot just adopt a child? Is it so difficult to adopt a child here in Pakistan, and the reason for not adopting kids is, he is not from our bloodline.

So in the end the two wives live happily ever after together? Or they end up finding that Shahryar is the one who is incapable of being a father.

The reason why I called it an unconventional love trio, because at one point of time, Sajjal felt Shahryar is doing wrong with Eman. He does not even love her, he suppresses her all the time and now he bringing another wife for the sake of an offspring.

What I learnt from this drama, that whatever the problems are, only the woman will be scapegoat in every situation. They say women are weak, but in my point of view they are the strongest because they have to bear all the burden, find the solution, proof their selves capable of get through in any situation.

The main cast of dram serial “Mol” consist Faisal Qureshi, Naveen Waqar, Iqra Aziz, Ismat Zaidi, Nadeem Baig, ZQ, Adnan Jafri and so one. The story was written by Amina Mufti. All the dramas Amina Mufti has written, you would find them more society oriented and women fighting against the odd laws of society and proving themselves as super women in the end by handling the situation. Just like Eman did.

The message is given in a good way, that submission is not the solution so is the rebellion. Women must try to understand their potential otherwise they will be suppressed through the ages and nothing will change for them.

Entrepreneurs give people new way to commute in and outside Lahore

Ride to your desired place in a new style, and use your smartphone apps for a better reason.
Daily we need to commute to our workplace or other places for different purposes. If somebody does not have his/her own ride, it’s quite a big mess to manage in that case. Esp. females, have hired services of auto rickshaw or van but many do not have this privilege as well.

In this busy and expensive life everyone is not able to get their own ride and so they use local commuting system which is quite a hassle itself. Talking about Lahore, the crowded roads and busy boulevards might make you more depress when you are on way to office. So many of us wished to have a system in which we pay less and get hassle free ride to your home, college or workplace.

Current generation knows how to make their lives easy and make money as well. Many new ideas emerged and we see fantastic entrepreneurs around us who are not only getting something done for their selves but making others’ lives easy as well; by developing these business ideas into real life services. I went through few pages on Facebook while searching random things and found some new things which are awesome if they actually work.

Savaree.com and Tripda.com.pk are the websites which give you a better way for daily commuting. When all our young people getting more attached to their smartphones, then why not to use them for travelling and commuting purposes as well. Uber is a known international cab service and savaree.com seems something inspired by it, so does Travly. You just call them and need to book them when and where you want to go. Plus they can be hired on monthly basis as well.

The mind behind savaree.com is a woman named Madiha Hasan, it’s been a year and the services is quite appreciated by Lahorites. Savaree’s personal Manager Shoaib ul Hasan told us that our drivers are educated, and after proper clearance we have hired people to insure security and make our services better.

Talking about tripda.com.pk, it is a service which you can avail by checking who is available on your route, and you can pool your trip. So many people share their schedule and route, and give a certain amount which can be pooled. This not only reduces the daily fare but also becomes easy for people to get a good ride in less money.

The idea behind these ventures is quite awesome and economical. This is unique, less time consuming and very affordable to person belonging to every class.

Other than that Shahi Savaree and app Travly are also launched to cater commuting needs of the people. They are expanding their service area so that many people can avail them. These apps are making good business through social media.

'He named me Malala' premiered in UK

Malala has been the center of attraction both in negative and positive terms in Pakistan and beyond border. This week at the London Film Festival a documentary about the youngest-ever Nobel Peace laureate had its European premiere.

"He named me Malala" is an intimate portrait of Malala Yousafzai, the passionate Pakistani advocate `of girls' education who survived a brutal Taliban gun attack in 2012.

Even the festival's biggest stars seemed humbled by the teenager and her aspirations. American actress Meryl Streep hailed her as the worthy heiress of the suffragettes who battled for the right to vote in Britain in the early 20th century.

Filmed over 18 months in Britain, Kenya, Nigeria, Abu Dhabi and Jordan, the documentary by American David Guggenheim recalls how Malala's father chose her name in honor of Malalai of Maiwand, a heroine who rallied the Pashtun army against British troops in 1880.

"When I was little, many people would say, 'Change Malala's name. It's a bad name, it means sad.' But my father would always say, 'No, it has another meaning. Bravery'," the 18-year-old said.

On screen, the teenager is seen at her home in Birmingham, central England, explaining to her father in the family living room how Twitter works, or squabbling with her brothers, Atal and Khushal.

The film follows her at school, in the streets of New York, at a refugee camp, spreading her optimistic and determined message on the right to education.

"One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world," she proclaimed.

The documentary also shows her life in Pakistan's Swat valley where she decided, aged 11, to write a blog for the BBC -- "Diary of a Pakistani schoolgirl" -- in which she denounces Taliban violence.

Guggenheim turns to animation to bring to life these years before the attempted assassination in October 2012, when Taliban gunmen opened fire on then 14-year-old Malala on her school bus.

The film also shows the months of hospitalization and reeducation of the girl who wants to become Prime Minister of Pakistan, as well as her close relationship to her father, himself a teacher and staunch defender of the right to education.

To silence the critics who see her as her father's mouthpiece, she added: "my father only gave me the name Malalai. He didn't make me Malalai. I chose this life."

Her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, meanwhile told of his astonishment at the Taliban attack, saying: "they had never killed a child, I never expected that".

On occasions in the film, Malala is just a normal teenager: she looks at photos of Brad Pitt, speaks of her favorite book, "the Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho, and shares her passion for cricket.

But she recognizes the difference between her and her British classmates who "all have boyfriends". And she shares her dreams of one day returning to the Swat valley.

"He named me Malala" is released in Britain on November 6.

Her name has been on everyone’s lips, somewhere in praise and somewhere for criticism. Even after bagging the Nobel Prize, many see her with hatred and tag her a western agent. The film is much awaited in all over the world and the pro Malala section of society wanted to view it.

Many disliked the dislike button after announcement by Facebook, here is why!!!

How would someone translate meanings out of the dislike notification, i bet it's weird to digest the fact you are being disliked in many uncertain situations.
What if you actually does not like somebody’s post and you wished there was a dislike button on Facebook just to tell that you have no liking for that particular post, comment or photo. I wished it so many times, and I'm sure so many of us did as well.

Seeing the other side of picture, there is some sad or bad news shared by a friend; and you have no choice but to like the post. E.g. someone shared the news of his beloved's death or accident or a stolen purse, and in answer you like the post. Well that's kind of absurd but we all do that.

The news is now a new button for disliking the posts on Facebook is coming on our way sooner. Mark Zuckerberg has finally confirmed that Facebook is working on something akin to a "dislike" button that will allow its users to acknowledge users' posts with just a click, but without appearing to approve of said post.

When asked at a Q&A session about whether the social network might follow up 2010's "like" button with a dislike, Zuckerberg confirmed that the company was "working on it".

However, he also suggested the button, when it is released, might not be called "dislike". "People aren't looking for the ability to down vote people's posts, what they really want is to be able to express empathy... We have an idea that we think we'll be ready to test soon and depending on how that does we'll be ready to roll it out more broadly."

The purported button could have several alternatives to "dislike" that allow users to empathize with a status or photo but without showing disapproval.

I am restless, because I can see how people tend to misunderstandings on the world of social media, because of ironical meanings. I can sense that many of us would not understand what does the dislike button did to their posts and I am pretty sure that many of us will have cat fights, arguments or even hot words among each other.

Few days back a recording was viral in Pakistan and India, in which a man calls to someone and kept on telling him “ Aap humein bilkul pasand nhi aye”( means we did not like you at all), though the recording was very hilarious and told us what a person feels when he is disliked by someone. We are waiting for some more studies regarding social media and the dislike button which is to be introduced sooner and see what behavioral changes it will bring to so many of us who are not good in bringing out the under cover meanings.

Born to be doomed, Indian "untouchable" sisters raped and paraded naked on streets

Strong caste and weak judicial systems cause end of humanity.
A pair of sisters, one of whom is only 15, are to be raped as punishment for their brother running away with a married woman in an Indian village.

The teenager and her elder sister Meenakshi Kumari, who is 23, will also be paraded through the streets naked with blackened faces, according to an unelected all-male village council, the Mail Online reported.

The barbaric punishment has been handed down in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, around 30 miles north of New Delhi.

According to Zee News, the pair’s brother Ravi fell in love with a girl from the higher Jat caste and the couple eloped in March, even after they were forcibly separated and she was married off to another man in February.

The sisters fled the village in May fearing retribution, causing the family’s home to be ransacked.

The Kumaris are Dalits, or untouchables, at the very bottom of India’s ancient caste system, transgressions of which are still taken extremely seriously in many parts of society.

The couple have now reportedly surrendered after their family were allegedly tortured by police and members of the Jat community to avenge the brother’s actions.

But that was not considered sufficient retribution and the Khap panchayat, or village council – of which Jats are prominent figures – has decided on the punishment for the sisters.

India’s Supreme Court has described such bodies as ‘kangaroo courts’ and branded their decrees illegal, yet in some states they continue to operate and their punishments are often carried out, according to Amnesty International. The group has started a petition against the ‘abhorrent’ punishment, which now has nearly 30,000 signatures out of a target of 50,000.

Meenakshi has filed a petition with the supreme court asking for protection and her father has lodged a complaint with two national bodies, saying that his family has been harassed not just by the family of the woman who has eloped but also by the police.

Sumit Kumar, another brother of Meenakshi, says that members of the Jat caste are powerful members of the village council and that ‘the Jat decision is final’, adding, ‘The police said anyone can be murdered now.’

As well as their own family, Kumar and his relatives are also worried about the safety of the Jat woman, who is now thought to be pregnant with Meenakshi’s brother’s child.

Khap panchayats are widespread in parts of India. They tend to be made up of older men from dominant castes, who prescribe rules for social behaviour and interaction in villages.

Rachel Alcock, Amnesty UK’s urgent action coordinator, said: “Rape is a revolting crime, not a punishment. It’s no wonder this disgusting ‘sentence’ has provoked global outrage.

“These Khap courts routinely order vile sexually violent punishments against women. India’s supreme court has rightly declared such orders illegal.

The caste system in this part of the world is very strong, either we see India or Pakistan, many people are abandoned from their basic rights to live just because they does not belong to better castes. There is just one question, is it in people's hand where to born, which religion to choose or which caste to own? No, the answer is no in every caste, creed and religion, even then the humanity is humiliated like this.

Chand Sitara and JJ are new sensation this August

You would love to hear JJ after decades but oops something got more importance in event than the song.
This august we have treat for ears, in many forms. First it was Coke Studio season 8, then many other songs came across our play list and now the veteran singer turned Maulna, Junaid Jamshed’s patriotic track which was much anticipated launched.

Throughout this time I was urging to hear JJ’s pure and melodious voice, though his Naats are equally popular as his music was. The start studded event by Pepsi Pakistan did not only launch the music video of track “Chand Sitara” written and directed by legendary director Shoaib Mansoor, but it also made JJ hit back the stage after several years. Along JJ it was Ali zafar, former Vital Signs members Salman Ahmad, Shahi Hasan Hadiqa Kiani and zoe viccaji reunited for this epic rendition.

JJ somehow remained the center of attention, esp. on social media when his selfies and other photographs along his friends and past colleagues circulated. Hadiqa Kayani holding JJ’s hand or the chum’s group selfie was highly criticized.

Apart from the main event, the selfies were made to hit social media and we saw memes slamming JJ on this. Junaid Jamshed who is believed to be a misogynist was highly under flames after his photographs took back stage.

Well we love your melodious voice and even if you had fun time with your old buddies, I guess it’s completely okay with that. It isn’t a big deal but because of his controversial statements, the critiques also become very radical.

Shoaib Mansoor said that it took 25 years for this song. Pepsi gave tribute to all the unsung heroes of Pakistan in this video and you might get a short trip to all the beautiful places of Pakistan.

Desi urdu version of WhatsApp to be relased soon

Urdu is in demand nowadays. After getting notifications for making our national language the official language, another shocking but good news is on it’s way.
In this age of advance technology, people belonging to every class, age and gender have smart phones. Which are cheaper as well and affordable too. The mobile companies have different packages but revolutionary internet is also available to all people.

After seeing great demand of social media apps e.g. WhatsApp and Viber, the companies gave a thought of giving a local version to its users. So they can use it more frequently.

An Urdu version of Whatsapp will soon be available on the Android platform, Whatsapp Translation Administrator Ahsan Saeed announced.

In a conversation to local daily in Pakistan he said “The translation process started three years ago, while the final moderation process took three months”, adding that the whole process was driven by volunteers.

“I translated 753 strings and moderated 2,089 strings in less than three months and made Urdu [the] 18th language in which WhatsApp for Android has been fully translated,” Saeed said in a Facebook post.

Since Whatsapp users can already communicate in Urdu using an Urdu keyboard, Saeed said his efforts were geared towards localizing the app itself for Urdu users. This included translating everything from the menus to the settings.

Saeed, who had already been working with Twitter as an Urdu localization moderator since 2012, signed up when Whatsapp called volunteers for their translation project. Around three months ago when the Whatsapp Urdu moderation process started, Saeed was promoted to Translation Administrator.

In case you are wondering if there really is a need for an Urdu version of Whatsapp, Saeed assures that a large proportion of Pakistani mobile internet users prefer Urdu. “It would also be beneficial for those looking to get connected with their national language again.”

The most interesting aspect of these volunteer-driven translation projects is that the individuals involved dedicate their energies entirely out of love for their languages. Now that Android has taken the lead in translating one of the most popular apps in Pakistan to Urdu, it remains to be seen if Whatsapp Urdu will be coming to iOS or Windows Phone next.

Facebook goes feminist, subtle change in friends icon

Throughout the world we see women getting empowered and for the sake of this purpose only our society can take initiative.

Brands and social media websites are doing much for this purpose and here we saw a new initiative taken by the biggest social media website ever.Facebook has made a subtle change to the "Friends" icon that appears at the top-right of its homepage, bringing the woman in the image in front of the man, The Verge reports.

Facebook design manager Caitlin Winner explains in a Medium post that the change was brought about after she noticed that while the man in the icon in the Facebook stylebook — or "glyph"— was symmetrical (except for his spiked hairdo,) the lady "had a little chip in her shoulder."

Then Winner encountered another problem: "In comparison to the new lady, the old man icon seemed stiff and outdated." So she then set about smoothing down his hair and adding a slight slope to his shoulders.

In updating the man, she also noticed there were many places on Facebook where a single male figure is used to represent an action — such as the "add friend" icon — so she drew a female single silhouette too.

The next issue to tackle was the size and order of the female silhouette in the "Friends" icon.

Winner says the new male and female silhouettes have already been shipped out for desktop, and appropriate male and female icons are now designated in the new profile creation process.

You may have not noticed it but these slight changes in icons matter a lot. Many apprenticed this new change in icon on social media. It's also being hailed as a small, 32px small, to be precise, victory for feminism.

"50 States of Gay" is land of homosexual love

The need of hour is to diagnose what are the factors which lead people to get indulge with same genders rather than humiliating them for what they love. One must prevent it by curing the mentality not suppressing.

The biggest news for America this week might be the pride for all or equality for all is when the Supreme Court legalize the right to marry the person you love i.e. same sex marriage.

Following the Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriage in the United States, Twitter was a-flurry with millions of tweets celebrating the decision.

While multiple hashtags were used, ranging from #SCOTUSMarriage to #GayMarriage, the hashtag that successfully broke the Internet was #LoveWins.

The hashtag was used almost 5.5 million times in 24 hours, according to Topsy, a social analytics site. It also remained in Twitter's top global trends throughout the day, as celebrities, activists, even the president used #LoveWins to celebrate the Court's decision.

Overall, there were over 10 million tweets about the Supreme Court decision, between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Friday, according to Twitter.

This also occurred as a war between the people of other conservative countries who are against it,

Social media got trended with in and against this law while we saw a huge number of rainbow display picture on social media accounts.

The same sex marriage is not allowed in any religion but even then a large number of homosexuals live around us, some declare and some don’t. It is only a matter of fact these such marriages in USA are inevitable while in some other countries such couples are seen in a handful of quantity.

There is need to understand that what urges these youngsters to get attracted towards their same sex and to educate them the law of nature rather than disgusting them for their feelings of love. One cannot sabotage the feelings but can suppress it, which is not the solution.
This is a truth which prevails in our societies and it cannot be denied.

Say no to “Nose Job”, Iranian Women protest in an innovative way

Iranian Women protest in their own way and say no to "Nose Job" for them as they believe on natural and real beauty rather then having a fake one,

What defines beauty of a woman? May be for now it is the media and cosmetic industry who determine which face feature is determined to be enhanced this season. As in south Asia we see a trend of bigger and pulpy lips are very much in nowadays and we see lip job exceeding its limits.

As in Iran the trend of nose job is increasing. The issue is not limited to nose jobs. At some point, “wide eyes” became popular in Japan. In Malaysia, all kinds of skin-whitening creams are popular. A certain “hegemonic,” “standardized” and “normalized” look is promoted throughout the media and cosmetic industry’s interests cannot be neglected in this.

It’s not surprising that Tehran has come to be known as the “nose job” capital of the world. Why does this eagerness for cosmetic surgery and for changing one’s appearance exist in Iran?

It has been said that the “culture industry” makes decisions about the appearance of the masses. “Beauty” has been reduced to certain clichés for all, even on an international scale.

Women face certain kind of pressures both from society and the fake standards set by media. In this regard a Facebook page called “Iranian Women Up Close” ha started a movement as a protest against this nose job culture exceeding in Tehran. They asked women to post their pictures of original nose which can tell that they do not need a cosmetic surgery to look beautiful. The unusual call sent out by page administration was followed by many women who posted their pictures and questioned the certain definition of beauty.

The post "Pictures of My Real Nose" as a way to their protest.

We have seen many cases of accidental surgeries which gave hideous results that women suffered from these cosmetic surgeries. We wish to see a bigger movement in this regard.

Superlative Bride vs. Realist Perfect Brides

I have been thinking what the criterion is for a perfect bride; since I have grown up nitty-gritty for a perfect bride were tall like a Date tree, fair complexion like milk, shiny teeth like pearls, dumb like cow, active like ant, long hair like snake and the list goes on.

The mentality of a patriarchal society has not been changed even after getting education. The latest demand of a suitor is a woman who is educated, younger than him, immensely pretty and some prefer a working lady. Along these demands they also want a tall girl with fair complexion and even if she is not of good conduct who cares, she is pretty and that’s it for them. They will be mesmerized with her looks regardless of knowing how scurrilous she is.

Recently came across a person who was lonely, lost his parents but seeking a wife who is a working lady and tall, it wonders me that men nowadays don’t wish for a caring and loving wife but seek a pretty bride regardless of the fact that what she lacks in her nature. Mostly men desire a wife who is thought perfect but their definition of perfect wife is quite complicated.

Here are some nitty-gritty of a superlative bride and a real perfect bride.

Fair Vs. Unfair:

A girl whose complexion is like moon is symbol of producing fair children, well who cares she brought up rude and manner less kids. On the contrary if a girl has tan, dusky or dark dusky complexion but is a Lady in real terms will never be preferred because they doubt on their son’s genes and want beautiful grandchildren.

Tall vs. Short:

The most desirable girls are those who have good heights over the girls who are short. Obviously a short girl can be only of good conduct or nature but she cannot clean Fans, ceilings and walls by herself without any help. How can one afford to buy stools for wife, rather he bring a wife who is substitute of a ladder and stool.

Working vs. Non-working:

It was a mindset that women working in offices are of bad morale. Obviously a girl who has explored every bit of this cruel world will be more aggressive, spontaneous and confident about her decisions. While a girl who spends her time at home will have lesser social contacts and will only spend day watching soups with full of family politics and unrealistic novels. They can do no help to their husband when in the time if need because they are so sensitive and dumb. A working woman is more brave, responsible and groomed as compare to a girl who has not seen outer world.

Hijabis vs. Modern girls:

Another most desired bride is the one who is Hijabi and pretends all the time as she is the last from the dynasty of most noble family on the earth. She avoids to talk na-mehram (apparently) and covers her hair all the time. She is chosen over the girl who does not covers her head, talk to men but that conversation is constructive, she is confident of herself that she is not crossing her limits. Well even then a man loves to talk such a woman but not to marry her because they love hypocrite women.

This is the nature’s rule that men are attracted towards beautiful women rather than good women and they judge her from their appearance. Even education cannot teach men of our times that a perfect bride is she who can comfort them and take care of them. Even if she is dusky, short or spontaneous but if she is of good nature and conduct she can raise your off-springs in a desirable way. Men should see what kind of mother they want for their kids not what kind of wife they want for exhibitive purposes.

Try to have realist approach and prove that education has done some good to our society. This does not mean that a tall, hijabi, less educated or home sitting girl will prove to be a bad wife but a girl who is vice versa to her can be a good wife as well. It is injustice to abhor such girls to make them your life partner.

Look at one’s capacity of heart not the shape of her.
